CBD is amazing, and when it’s derived from hemp or industrial hemp, like the CBD found in TheraJoy CBD Salve, it’s legal in both the US and Canada. However, finding “real” CBD may not be as easy as you think, so buyer beware. Always consider the Volume, Purity and Source of your CBD before purchase and subsequent use.
Products with 99% pure CBD derived from non-GMO, organic hemp are available, so don’t settle for less. (Not only do we always use 99% pure CBD, TheraJoy CBD Salve is also always 100% organic, vegan, gluten free and kosher.)
Which is the right CBD product for me?
CBD is short for Cannabidiol, and when it’s derived from hemp, it is legal in all 50 US states and Canada. It is a non-psychoactive extract that “has shown many health benefits.” (It’s also the key ingredient in our TheraJoy CBD Salve, but you already knew that.)
The fact that CBD is not psychoactive has made it very appealing to patients, parents, family members, and medical professionals alike. The world is slowly coming to the realization of the need for an organic, all natural cure as chemical treatments and the crookedness of big pharma companies are becoming less and less popular.
CBD isn’t just snake-oil; the health benefits are backed by real science. The science is published and easily accessible on-line; much of it even comes from the US government, through agencies of the National Institutes of Health. Articles like this one on treating insomnia associated with chronic pain, and this one on managing pain perception. Even the FDA recently admitted CBD was “beneficial.”
While it’s seems clear at this point that, for the right conditions, CBD may provide relief. Getting real CBD may be a little harder then you think.
Sometimes it seems like CBD is everywhere; just consider this Google search “legal cbd for sale” with nearly 1.6 million results, and a scary first organic result titled “How to buy CBD Oil – Watch out for these 3 Traps.“
I bet you’re curious. What are the “3 Traps?”
- Look for quality, not for low prices
- Beware of products that claim to cure everything
- Make sure your oil is Non-Psychoactive
TheraJoy passes their test. We focus on quality first, with a 99% pure product. We never make false claims. We only reference real, scientific research, and our product is never psychoactive.
Continuing through the search results, you may find yourself overwhelmed by the number of products and vendors. Are there really this many amazing CBD products already on the market? The answer, sadly, is no.
A 2016 study published in the Journal of Regulatory Science tested 23 products with “hemp oil and/or cannabinoid label claims” purchased on the Internet. Of these, 18 tested positive for the presence of at least one cannabinoid compound. But three contained less than 0.01 percent of a cannabinoid, and four products labeled as CBD “were found not to contain any CBD,” according to the study.
These are disconcerting numbers. Only 78% of the tested products contained CBD, and of that set 13% “contained less than 0.01 percent.”
Selecting a CBD brand you can trust has never been more important. At TheraJoy, we encourage our users to look for three things when selecting their CBD brand; specifically volume, purity and source.
Volume. The relative volume of CBD is important, because it helps you understand how strong the product will be. Understanding the relative volume, also let’s you clearly understand how much CBD you are purchasing per dollar. For example, a 4 oz. container of TheraJoy contains 1,000mg of CBD for $90 is clearly a better value then a competitors product offering 1,000mg of whole-plant extracted CBD for $139. (The whole-plant extracted part will become important in literally just a second. )
Purity. CBD purity is an important consideration, too. While some people will encourage you to use whole-plant extracts, they no longer represent the latest advances in CBD extraction technology. Whole-plant extracts, or CBD oils, will max at about 60% pure. Compare that to CBD isolates, which can reach purity levels in excess of 99%.
Source. When the legality of your purchase could later be called in to question, it’s essential that you know where the CBD you use comes from. When CBD is derived from hemp or industrial, like the CBD found in TheraJoy, it is 100% legal for purchase and use in the United States and Canada. However, when CBD is derived from any other source, it isn’t.
Once you are confident about the overall quality of a brand, it’s important to select the right delivery mechanism for your condition. Consider TheraJoy CBD Salve; TheraJoy was designed for topical skin application, which means you can apply it direct to the afflicted area for a variety of skin conditions, muscle conditions and pain conditions. Based on the feedback of our users, here are just a few commons uses of TheraJoy:
